Historical Note
Anna is the Granddaughter
of the Artist. This was painted during the period when the Artist
and her husband were snowbirds living in Oregon and coming south to
Arizona in the winter. This portrait was painted using an Old
Master technique by first doing a grisaille underpainting and then proceeding with
thin color glazing. A colorful background was
chosen along with light descending upon the subject in an attempt
to depict on canvas the spiritual strength, optimism, integrity, and
delightful personality of the subject. |
